Mining Terminology - E

Bestowed with the special strength to explore and mine natural resources found in earth, Rachana Global is a prominent player in mineral mining and exploration. Some of the following stated mining terminology is used during mining activities at Rachana Global.

Electrical grounding – The process to connect with the ground to make the earth part of the circuit.

Electrolytic refining - The process of purifying metal ingots that are suspended as anodes in an electrolytic bath, alternated with refined sheets of the same metal that act as starters or cathodes is electrolytic refining.

Electrostatic precipitator - An electrical device for removing fine particles (fly ash) from combustion gases prior to release from a power plant's stack.

EM survey – It is a geophysical survey method which measures the electromagnetic properties of rocks.

Entry - An underground horizontal or near-horizontal passage used for haulage, ventilation, or as a mainway; a coal heading; a working place where the coal is extracted from the seam in the initial mining; same as "gate" and "roadway," both British terms.

Environmental impact study - A written report, compiled prior to a production decision that examines the effects proposed mining activities will have on the natural surroundings.

Evaluation - The work involved in gaining knowledge of the size, shape, position and value of coal is termed as evaluation.

Epithermal deposit – An epithermal deposit is a mineral deposit consisting of veins and replacement bodies, usually in volcanic or sedimentary rocks, containing precious metals or, more rarely, base metals.

Excavation: Extraction of solid earth material from the ground for mineral mining is known as Excavation.

Exploration: The search for mineral deposits and the work done to prove or establish the extent of a mineral deposit is known as exploration.

Exploration drilling - Drilling done in search of new mineral deposits, on extensions of known ore deposits, or at the location of a discovery up to the time when the company decides that sufficient ore reserves are present to justify commercial exploitation. Assessment drilling is reported as exploration drilling.

Explosive - Any rapidly combustive or expanding substance is known as explosive. The energy released during this rapid combustion or expansion can be used to break rock.

Extraction: The process of mining and removal of ore from a mine is known as extraction.
